Marilyn is our Executive Assistant in the Corporate Risk Division. She has been a dedicated volunteer for Kellyville Lions for four years and won the Kellyville Club "Lion of the Year" for 2015/16 for her community service.
With the time and desire to give back to the community where she could, Marilyn has undertaken a variety of activities including editing the newsletter, posting on facebook and of course assisting with the many Kellyville Lions events and fundraising activities which are primarily focused on assisting disabled children in the Hills area.
Marilyn is pleased to report of some recent activities:
"A Calcutta was held at the Australian Brewery in Rouse Hill with $20,175 being raised, netting $8,135 for the club. This tough 5-week project was our best Calcutta result and will be used to help disabled children in the Hills area.
"Leading up to Christmas our Lions Christmas Cakes and Pudding train around Kellyville netted the great result of $2,300 even with the very hot weather.
"We proudly sponsored youngsters in the "Youth of the Year." We had three candidates and am very happy to say that one of the students from William Clarke College was successful in moving to the next round.
"We participated in Clean-Up Australia Day concentrating our efforts at Kellyville Lions Park and Bernie Mullane Reserve. It was amazing just how much rubbish we collected.
"Our Bunnings and Woolworths BBQs continue each month and while hard work at times, we still have a great time with lots of laughs.
"As a result of the above, we have been able to provide much needed walkers to a few very fortunate children, making their lives and their family’s lives a little easier and giving them the miracle of a little more independence. I love to see the faces on these children when they are fitted into their new chairs."
